SketchWalk ChaoPhraya
The highlight of Feburary is my first ever oversea sketch trip with the UrbanSketchers Singapore members at Bangkok, Thailand. It was a 2-day event organized by the Bangkok sketchers as part of the community festival that celebrate a heredity area next to the Chao Phraya River. I am impressed by the hospitality and the organization of the BKK sketchers. I enjoyed the experience very much and would sure be back to BKK!

EveryDay Matters
Just realized that the first EDM drawing I did was in 2006! I had kinda stopped following the list the last few years, but now I’m re-doing the list all over again, using Paper 53 on the new iPad. I’m posting them on my tumblr blog – whydoodle. I will also post a summary / highlight here from time to time. Hope you’ll enjoy!
Here’s #1 – draw a shoe. I recently bought a few pairs of shoes from my HK trip, and here’s one of them.

Shoes are such a draw-able subject. I drew another one – the slippers I’m wearing at home.

Haven’t updated for a while as I went back to HK for a short break. Did not bring the camera this time, just a small sketchbook and a pen. It was great to see family and friends again, but the trip was too short.
We took an early flight to HK.

The first thing we did after settling down is to go for a haircut. I had a very bad haircut a few months ago in SG and I need a fix so badly… felt much happier after the haircut. Then we went back to the hotel and take a short break before going to family dinner.

The next morning, we had dim sum brunch with a friend.

We went to Sha Tin to see the Picasso Exhibition in the afternoon, and had dinner at New Town Plaza with a friend.

The next day, we went to Sai Kung. We even took a small boat to one of the off islands. The boat ride was really fun. We had desserts at the famous HoneyMoon dessert place before going home for dinner.

Weeds in the garden
Summer is here and the weeds in the garden are in full bloom! I picked a few of them to draw, and stamp on my garden sketchbook. A bit messy but I think the prints look quite nice :)

360 view
Drew this on a very hot afternoon, it was so hot that I don’t want to leave the room because it has air conditioning. I was bored and wanted to sketch, but there isn’t much interesting things to sketch in this very ordinary room, so I came up with this – draw the 360 view of the room. I added in the color in Photoshop later after scanning the sketch.

Weeds
I drew this last week, on a rainy morning. This is the 8×8″ Earth Care Sketch Book that I bought a while ago, with 22 sheets of 160gsm white drawing paper. The paper doesn’t take ink and watercolor that well, it bleeds to the next page!

Pottery is fun. I made this sake bottle set with the help of the instructor. I didn’t know that it could be so hard to make the tiny cups. I spend another hour painting them, and quite like how they turn out.
