Christmas at Orchard
Drew this on a very hot afternoon, it was so hot that I don’t want to leave the room because it has air conditioning. I was bored and wanted to sketch, but there isn’t much interesting things to sketch in this very ordinary room, so I came up with this – draw the 360 view of the room. I added in the color in Photoshop later after scanning the sketch.

Little India is such a colorful place to sketch, and you won’t run out of topics! Last Sat, I joined another sketching session at Buffalo Road, Little India organized by Master Chan Chang How. It was another fruitful session, Master Chan showed me how to sketch people, he was really fast and his sketch captured the motion and the form so nicely! The two persons in the sketch in the middle were done by Master Chan, I added them to my sketch with Photoshop :P He also showed me how to sketch the leaves in the drawing on the right, and helped me to add some darker parts to the drawing so that it’ll pop.

I went on to sketch along Chander Road, attracted by the shadows on this Kerbau Hotel but can’t quite capture it on my sketch here.

Last weekend, I joined Master Chan Chang How and the USKSG group to sketch along South Bridge Road around Chinatown. Master Chan is one of the most excellent watercolor painters in Singapore, and it was a very valuable experience to sketch with him. He is a very warm and generous person, volunteer to organize a sketching session like this to share his knowledge in sketching and painting. It was really helpful to see him demonstrate how our sketches could be improved. A very inspiring session indeed.

I drew this last week, on a rainy morning. This is the 8×8″ Earth Care Sketch Book that I bought a while ago, with 22 sheets of 160gsm white drawing paper. The paper doesn’t take ink and watercolor that well, it bleeds to the next page!
