Sketches for Sale at the Pop-Up Art
I created 4 new Christmas-theme sketches especially for this event…
Christmas at Orchard
Drew this on a very hot afternoon, it was so hot that I don’t want to leave the room because it has air conditioning. I was bored and wanted to sketch, but there isn’t much interesting things to sketch in this very ordinary room, so I came up with this – draw the 360 view of the room. I added in the color in Photoshop later after scanning the sketch.
Little India is such a colorful place to sketch, and you won’t run out of topics! Last Sat, I joined another sketching session at Buffalo Road, Little India organized by Master Chan Chang How. It was another fruitful session, Master Chan showed me how to sketch people, he was really fast and his sketch captured the motion and the form so nicely! The two persons in the sketch in the middle were done by Master Chan, I added them to my sketch with Photoshop :P He also showed me how to sketch the leaves in the drawing on the right, and helped me to add some darker parts to the drawing so that it’ll pop.
Buffalo Road and Kerbau Road
I went on to sketch along Chander Road, attracted by the shadows on this Kerbau Hotel but can’t quite capture it on my sketch here.
Also tried to sketch with pencil at Belilios Lane…
Last weekend, I joined Master Chan Chang How and the USKSG group to sketch along South Bridge Road around Chinatown. Master Chan is one of the most excellent watercolor painters in Singapore, and it was a very valuable experience to sketch with him. He is a very warm and generous person, volunteer to organize a sketching session like this to share his knowledge in sketching and painting. It was really helpful to see him demonstrate how our sketches could be improved. A very inspiring session indeed.
South Bridge Road
Sketching at the Subway sandwiches store at the Verge. The construction site opposite seems to be the location of the new subway station..
While I was sketching the motorbikes, one of the owner came and said he’d buy TOTO, lottery in SG, based on the plate numbers of these bikes..
Many interesting shop-houses to sketch in Little India.
Finally drew the Capitol Building on a rainy afternoon. I had to capture it in two separate pages on the 20*9cm sketchbook…
I drew this last week, on a rainy morning. This is the 8×8″ Earth Care Sketch Book that I bought a while ago, with 22 sheets of 160gsm white drawing paper. The paper doesn’t take ink and watercolor that well, it bleeds to the next page!
This is a temple in the middle of Little India, Singapore. I only had a few minutes to sketch while my friends went inside to take a quick look of the temple.
Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple
The Sky Park of the VivoCity was packed with couples on the V day.
sketched this outside ION Orchard, the landmark shopping mall on orchard road, singapore. this building has a unique outlook and is quite challenging to sketch.
