I had the unagi don set and it was very delicious! The unagi tasted as good, if not better, as the real thing! The environment is nice too – spacious and comfy. Staffs are very friendly too. We shall visit again.

After having lunch at the Korean restaurant MANNA on the Telok Ayer Street, I did a quick sketch of its shopfront. I sketched another shop along the street, and the entrance of the mosque inside Nagore Durgha.

Telok Ayer Street
Nagore Durgha Shrine is located at the intersection of Telok Ayer Street and Boon Tat Street, and this is the view from Boon Tat Street. The architecture is quite unique. I did a quick sketch first before drawing it again on watercolor paper.

Had dim sum brunch at the Crystal Jade of Holland Village last weekend. We were sitting next to the window on the second floor, and I managed to draw this while having dim sum.

Thursday sketchwalk at Teck Lim Road and Bukit Pasoh last week. It was a very hot day. We found a shady spot at Teck Lim Road that looks into the back alley of the shophouses on Kiang Siak Road. Finish two sketches in around an hour.

It happens that we were sketching next to Books Cellar. The owner came out and look at our sketches while we were doing the show-and-tell. He kindly suggests that we can put our sketches for sales at his cafe! What a nice surprise! We also took a look at the cafe and I found it a very cozy place to chill and hangout! I should go back and draw the cafe some time soon!
Waterfront is always one of my favorite hang out place, from HK’s Victoria Harbour to TO’s Ontario Lake, and now SG’s Singapore River. It is always so calming an relaxing to sit and enjoy the view there. Last week, after having lunch at Boat Quay, I walked across the bridge to join other sketchers around the Asian Civilisations Museum to sketch. I sat outside this IndoChine restaurant, which is located at one wing of the ACM. I think there was a banquet or function going on, as I kept hearing musics and people singing while I sketch.

This is the view from where I was sitting.. I drew it on a 2.5×5.5″ smooth paper first, and then on the A5 sketch book.

There were many tourists around that area, some came over to peek at my work. After sketching outdoor so many times, I’m more used to it now. I would smile back and may even chat with them. Most people are very friendly and would say very encouraging words. As I was sketching, the sky gets darker and darker, and I saw a black cloud moving towards my location, so I decided to pack my stuff and find a shelter.

The rain came when I was walking to the Art House. I was glad that I escaped the rain, as it was pouring and umbrella wouldn’t help! I took my time to check out the exhibitions at the Art House, and finally decided to sketch the Victoria Concert Hall from the window of the second floor.

I was stuck at the Art House for more than an hour because of the rain. I then walked to the Raffles City to grab a bite when the rain stopped. The shopping mall is already dressed up for Christmas. I can’t resist to make a quick sketch of the decoration while eating. I was supposed to meet up with other sketchers at the end of the day but my phone’s battery died and I couldn’t contact them. Nevertheless, it was a productive day for me, and it feels great sketch outdoor again.

Finally sketched the Goodwood Park Hotel, where we had our sinful high tea buffet. More info here.
